Albatrosh
Seagull Island

INEA05

Albatrosh is an award-winning norwegian duo consisting of two young jazz musicians; André Roligheten (saxophones) & Eyolf Dale (piano). Both of the 23-year old musicians are jazz/impro students, accordingly at the jazz departments in Trondheim & Oslo.

Their music is based on their improvised expression, tied into their own compositions. Albatrosh is about the acoustic sound of the piano and saxophone, and with this they try to explore the possibilities of this lineup – working with expressions and sounds.

Tore Johansen Unity
Giving

INEA04

Trumpeter Tore Johansen (30) found himself lifted to higher grounds both
as a composer and as a soloist, after the important 2004 phone call he made to Swedish piano great Lars Jansson and the Finnish alto player Jukka Perko, asking them    to join his Tore Johansen Unity project in Norway. The first results came on the album Like That (Gemini Records) from 2005 together with Karin Krog. Four years has    passed, tenor sax-wizard Knut Riisnæs has taken Krog¹s place in the band, and out on the street¹s now is the result; A highly energetic new album called GIVING. In addition to the abovementioned, rounding up the sextet is also the talents of the bass player Bjørn Kjellemyr and the drumming of Tore´s big brother and co-producer Roger Johansen.

Inspired by singers and songwriters like K.D. Lang, Joni Mitchell and Lizz Wright, with the blend of pop, country and acoustic jazz, drummer Roger Johansen (35) surprises by delivering his strongest statement so far in his career. World of Emily is a vocal album which shows a drummer and songwriter on top of his game. In his own special way, Roger has set the poetic world of Emily Dickinson to life and into contemporary jazz with a touch of relaxed pop-ish coolness. 11 unique songs, brilliantly performed by Roger´s own group, whisch includes the talents of Norwegian guitar legend Jon Eberson, with Marit Sandvik/vocals, Atle Nymo/tenorsax, Helge Lien/piano and Sondre Meisfjord ad the bass.

Rainbow Session

INEA01

It’s not a revelation that trumpeter Tore Johansen’s (30) mode of playing and overall sound has been compared to Chet Baker and Art Farmer. His calm but hip approach, combined with gorgeous tone and great phrasing, make’s Tore one of Norwegian Jazz’s most personal trumpet voices today. On Rainbow Session, his 5th album under his own name, he once again unites with bass-wonder boy Ole Morten Vågan together with two-time Norwegian Jazz Grammy winner, Vigleik Storaas at the piano. Tore integrates original compositions and standards, soulful ballads, fiery swing and flowing pulse, all songs seamlessly integrated in an intimate trio setting without drums.
